THE CUSTOMER

The client is an American-based Fortune 500 insurer that provides Property and Casualty insurance coverage to consumers and commercial enterprises alike.

THE PROBLEM

The client has developed an enterprise strategy over the years that emphasizes the need for a radical overhaul of its operational infrastructure to adapt to the shifting demands of its prestigious clientele. Because of issues with scalability, accessibility, compatibility, extensibility, and the capacity to add feature updates for a better user experience, they sought to upgrade, replace, or modernize their legacy systems that had served for 40 years or more. It was also important to drastically cut down the amount of time it took to develop new business features and create test data for the various QA services.

In order to modernize its infrastructure, it chose to use Guidewire, the most popular P&C insurance platform. The customer also saw the importance of having a partner that is familiar with their sector, has expertise with Guidewire implementations, and can re-engineer processes while keeping their specific requirements in mind in order to fully realize the platform’s potential.

The partner for guidewire-driven transformation is Routeget Technologies.

RTL built numerous teams with capabilities in Guidewire and other similar technologies as needed, both onshore and offshore. These teams were established as part of RTL’s partnership with the client in the client’s modernization projects. RTL was responsible for delivering on many programs that were part of the modernization strategy. These programs were largely for providing development assistance, test enablement and automation, and quality assurance services for newly built Guidewire capabilities.

To allow the product development and case management teams to roll out new features for a variety of states in the United States, the development support included offering extended support for more than 15 different system settings. This entailed the following:

  • Creating dashboards for use by senior management.
  • improvements and ongoing maintenance of the integration services that are utilized by PolicyCenter.
  • alterations to PolicyCenter’s configuration in preparation for testing operations.
  • Error log monitoring.

In addition, RTL was responsible for test enablement and automation, which included the creation of automation tools to facilitate the efficient mining and generation of test data. In addition, the web-enabled automated quality assurance tools that were developed by RTL made it possible for all functional teams who were participating in the test cycle to get access to a variety of test artifacts, reports, test results, statuses, and workload items, among other things. As a direct consequence of this, tracking and coordinating QA projects across the various modernization workgroups for the customer was made much simpler.

The new feature services consisted of analysis, testing, and documentation of new and customized features for a number of different states located around the United States.

Value Addition

The customer was able to realize commercial value as a result of the many benefits that resulted from the utilization of RTL’s technological experience, Guidewire’s expertise, and industry knowledge. RTL made it possible for the client to:

  • Using RTL’s automation tools, which execute test data mining and test data synthesis based on basic user inputs, you can reduce the amount of manual work required to search for test data and fabricate test data to just a few seconds (where it would normally take at least a day). This allows you to test a single business case far more quickly.
  • Enhance teamwork on quality assurance tasks by utilizing web-based tools developed by RTL and now utilized by more than 2000+ users. These tools are currently in use.
  • Through careful optimization of the application’s refactoring process, you may minimize the amount of time needed to run tests by more than 95% while simultaneously improving the level of test coverage and the effectiveness of deployment cycles.
  • Reduce MTR flaws by more than 25 percent. MTR stands for “mean time to resolve.”
  • RTL’s efforts to analyze features and describe them will, if successful, lead to a greater user comprehension of how business functionality works.
